Increased Denver DUI Patrol for 4/20 Weekend

With more than 50,000 celebrants expected to descend this weekend on the 4/20 Pot Rally at Civic Center Park, 9News reports that Denver Police intend to be present in force.  In addition, at least three private security companies have been retained to supervise the event. Participants will undergo bag checks at each of the four entry points, and law enforcement will be particularly alert for concealed weapons.

Denver attorney Jay Tiftickjian, interviewed by 9News in the story above, warns that participants driving to or from the event should expect increased DUI enforcement, that driving while high on pot is punishable as a DUI, and that the consequences of a conviction include potential jail time, thousands of dollars in court fees and fines, and a permanent criminal history.
